Now it is time to start some of your own family traditions. While keeping some of the traditions you grew up with is good, it is also important for your family have the joy of creating new and exciting traditions together that they can be proud to pass on to their family.
There are many different things that you can do for family traditions. Sit down with your family and brainstorm with them. Let everyone have some input as to what they find important and what their ideas are for traditions.
You can then take the best ideas and go with them or write them down on paper and put them in a jar. Each holiday you can pick from the jar and see what new tradition will be instilled.
Some great ideas for holiday dinners if you have a large family that live near by would be to have everyone pick one holiday. For instance you can do a Thanksgiving celebration at your house and then go to Uncle Jims for New Years and possible to Cousin Jill's for Easter.
Be sure to keep at least one holiday for you and your family to stay at home. This will allow everyone to take part in the holiday festivities and no one will feel left out.
Decorating for the holidays scan be a family tradition where everyone helps to decorate the home for such holidays as Easter, Halloween and Christmas.
You can even make it a tradition where you pick one day out of the year that is your own made up holiday for you and your family to celebrate. It could be the 3rd Wednesday of each June.
You can also make a family game night where everyone gets to bring their favorite game to the table and the whole family sits down taking turns playing the games.
Have a kids dinner night where the kids cook what ever they want for dinner and that is what everyone has to eat what they cook, even if it is ice cream sandwiches for dinner. Or you can have a backwards day where you get up and put your pajamas on to eat dinner for breakfast.
No matter what you choose as your traditions keep them simple and fun for the whole family. Make sure that you make it a habit to continue to do the traditions each year so your family will look forward to it.
If you and your family are at a loss for creative traditions try searching the internet for great ideas. You can take someone's idea and add your own twist to it.
You can even take the ones that have been handed down from generation to generation in your family and put your own twist on them as well. Remember nothing is
