1. Eat healthy and nutritious food. As you take special care of your children and spouse, take care of yourself also; you are equally important. 

2. Increase water intake. Drink at least 84 ounces of water a day.

3. Balance protein, good fats and carbohydrates intake.

4. Calcium intake is important for women of all ages. Daily calcium supplementation is a critical factor in the prevention of many women health issues.

5. Folic acid supplementation notably decreases the risk of child birth defects and should be taken by all women considering pregnancy.

6. All types of cancer risks can be reduced by following a modified and balanced diet that is low on fat, has high fiber, and little or no red meat.

7. Incorporate exercise into your daily routine- Incorporating regular exercise regime and a heart-healthy diet in your lifestyle can also significantly reduce a woman's risk of heart diseases.

8. Limit alcohol use and quit smoking- Alcohol if taken in a very moderate quantity is good for women, but excessive alcohol intake really converts into many women health issues. Though controlled alcohol is fine but smoking is totally a no-no for women, it affects badly to women as compared to their men counterparts.

9. One of the most important things that women can do to maintain optimum health is to visit their gynecologist for keeping a check on all women health issues. This should include a Pap smear screening tool for all women beginning at the age of 18 or younger.

10. Women from the age of 25 to 64 should go for basic tests annually that include height, weight, and blood pressure. It is suggested that after the age of 50 all women should be tested for colorectal cancer.

11. Mental strength is a key to happiness and healthy body. While considering women health issues, problems related to mental state also needs to be taken into account. They include depression, anxiety, and suicide amongst other psychiatric problems.

According to many studies mental health issues often affect women in a different way than men. Women need to know facts about all mental illnesses and problems including ADD or ADHD.

12. Mental stress plays a key role in many sicknesses so finding ways to reduce stress may add many years to your life.
