The reason for inequality of women in society is because of the prejudice men have about them. Women were not given the same educational opportunities that men were given. All these factors lead to the reason that there was no equality of women in society, because men are in nature stronger and more antagonistic.
In many societies, the health, education, employment, gender, social and economical rights for women are different from men.
Health- The rights of women in the area of health issues is an extension to the rights of women in society. In our society we would all agree to the fact that women approach the medical facility only if their sickness or any health issues hinder with their daily routine.
Also women in society do not want to drain their family's meager possessions or income by spending it on their own health care. So finally when they do approach medical facilities, it is essential that they are treated with utmost consideration and sensitivity.
All these reasons demands for a reformation of the educational and training programs at all levels of health professionals. Be it senior or junior doctors, nurses, ward boys/girls, community level workers or all those who comprise the interface between the medical facilities and women, all these need to be restructured keeping in mind the needs of women in society.
Unless we are able to make such an open and sensible structure, all other rights expected and demanded by women become meaningless and ineffective. Education- In many societies, there is a lack of education for young women.
Women have the right to get better and equal education so that they may get better jobs and be taught to function as self- directed beings so that they are not so dependent on the males of society.
Employment- Discrimination by gender is one of major problems faced by women in employment. Sometimes, gender discrimination is also associated with age and physical appearance.
Private organizations, banks, public sector companies prefer to hire young male graduates as compared to their female applicants and even to the experienced ones. Women in general work at junior and middle level positions and are concentrated in the lower income groups of public and private organizations.
An important problem related to women’s employment in the society is the lack of opportunities for promotion and building a strong continuous professional career. Women receive less remuneration throughout their work life than men.
In many cases it has been seen that women have lower promotion opportunities compared to their male counterparts. Mothers do not receive an adequate maternity leaves and benefits.
Women’s belief in equality is strong because she knows it is the right thing. We need to have a society in which the rights and the needs of the women are taken care of without any prejudice on the basis of gender, religion, culture, class, health and education.
Women in society should be provided justice and equality in every way, this can only be done by informing and educating and finally empowering women on their legal rights.
