De-Cluttering Your Clutter

Women as well as men have an ongoing issue with junk collecting in our homes. Men generally tend to over look it but women on the other hand will go out of their minds trying to control over it.

There are a few simple things that you can do to get the clutter in your home under control. There is no reason your house should run you, you need to run your house.

One of the main culprits of clutter is the mail. Many people grab the mail and put it in a pile then forget about it or they go through it once a week. Before you know it you have a section of the house that is dedicated solely to mail.

You need to nip that in the bud and immediately go to the trash when you sort through the mail. Toss anything that is junk. Go through the bills right then and put them where they need to be in the bills to pay pile. This will eliminate the chance for clutter to build.

Use baskets to sort through what is left lying around at the end of the day. Get one basket for you, hubby and one for each child. Have them pick up their own mess and put it in the basket for easy pickup.

Then have each person put the items where they belong that is in their basket. You will be able to go to bed with a clutter free home. Waking up will be so much nicer.

Be sure to do the dishes right after a meal. When people let them sit they tend to grow. The pile gets larger and the dishes don't get done. This makes the kitchen instantly look a mess.

Experts say it takes at least 2 weeks to start a new habit so consider getting a new habit every two weeks. Make the first the mail sorting, then the baskets for clean up; then you can do something like laundry.

Getting the laundry under control can be a task at first. If you are one of those who washes it all but has all the clean clothes n a pile hidden somewhere then you will need to be a bit harder on yourself at first.

You will need to put aside some time for you and the rest of the family to tackle the pile once and for all. If everyone pitches in you will see that the pile will take no more then an hour or so.

You can use the baskets each person has assigned for them and put each person's clothes in his or her own basket. They can then tackle their own mound of clothes. Going forward, make it a habit to put a load of clothes in the washer as soon as you get up. This will take all of 2 minutes.

Then before you leave for work put the clothes in the dryer or hang them to dry. This way when you come home you have just one load of clothes for the family to put away. By following these simple tricks you will see a huge improvement in no time.
