How To Keep Your Sanity During The Holidays

Let's face it the holidays can be trying on a woman, especially if you are a stay at home mom. Most of the holiday festivities fall on your shoulders. You are the one who does all of the holiday shopping, the cooking, the cleaning not to mention running the household.

Most people do not realize what goes into being a stay at home mom. Being a stay at home mom is one of the most important jobs that you will ever have.

Not only are you the one doing the main part of the child rearing but you are also the one who is keeping the home front a happy and healthy place.

There are times that I think my husband believes that there is a fairy that goes around the house replenishing the items that he uses daily.

Yes being a stay at home mom can be a thankless job, but it is one that most all stay at home moms will tell you, they would not trade this job for anything in the world. So just how do you keep it together during the holidays when everything seems to pile up all at once?

You can keep your cool while maintaining your household with a few simple steps.

Be sure to keep a routine in place. Many women find that if they follow a daily routine, they can keep things running smoothly with little effort. This way when the extras creep up on you during the holidays it is simple to add in those extra tasks.

It may take a bit to find the schedule that works best for you but when you do you will see that things will fall right into place.

If you have older children you can delegate tasks to them. Have them help with decorations as well as wrapping gifts for family and friends.

If you have smaller children then you can give them such jibs as helping to clean up toys and they can also help with decorating cookies or candy that you may make for the holidays.

Many stay at home moms find that it is good to bake some of the presents as it helps to bring the family closer together as well as giving a gift from the heart.

Do as Santa does. Make a list and check it twice. Make a list of what you are going to make or buy as presents for everyone. Be sure to check it twice to be sure that you do not forget anyone. The list will also keep you on track so you do not over spend.

Keep in mind that no matter how great we make the list, there will most likely be someone that you forgot to add to the list. In that case, it is a good idea to pick up a few basic gifts that you can wrap and keep under the tree for those forgotten friends that show up at the last minute.

By following these simple steps, you will find that the holidays will flow much more smoothly and you will have more time to enjoy the festivities yourself.
