Wouldn't it be nice to have your family sit down to a nice dinner at your own dining room table?
Many families today do not know what that is like. Most every family is so busy with their daily lives running in different directions they don't have time to sit down and enjoy a meal together as a family.
They miss out on the benefits of the quality time you get when sitting down to a meal together. You can talk about the events of the day, how school went for the kids, anything interesting that might have happened to anyone during the day can be discussed here at the table.
You don't have to fall victim to the fast food restaurant scams. You can take control of your mealtime by following just a few simple tips.
Keep in mind that you're not to be able to get your whole family to done every night for a meal at home but you can certainly be well on your way to having them home at least half of the time for meals and evening. Start off by including the whole family in the decision of what to eat.
Perhaps you might have every Thursday night as pizza night at home. This can be fun as you can either make your own pizzas or rent a few movies and order in, having the pizzas delivered. You can also let the kids have their night for cooking.
You can have every Saturday be kid's night where you let them choose the menu, and prepare the meal for everyone. Little ones especially love to do this.
You can help them make their menu and then take them shopping for the ingredients be sure to supervise when they prepare the meal. It can be something crazy and simple like pancakes or waffles or just some simple cheeseburgers and chips.
Getting the family back to the table doesn't have to be hard work. Be sure to split up your family dinner nights, this way you will allow the family time in between family dinners to do their own thing.
Sometimes your children may have plans to eat over at a friend's house so you don't want to make family dinner time every single night. This will only scare the family further away from the table and that is not what you want.
Be flexible, due Monday, Wednesday and Friday where you have sit down meals at home and then have one night where you go out to eat. You can then go with a free-for-all on another night where everyone just makes their own sandwich.
You will find that your family will be more likely to come home to eat if you make them feel that they're having an input in the decision-making with the meals.
So stop going to the drive through and go to the grocery store instead. Pick up something at the whole family will enjoy, bring your family back home to the table.
