Tips For Organizing The Kids Toy Room

With the holidays upon us it is important to be on top of the toy room. Getting the toy room organized will help get your house ready for the new toys that will be coming from holiday presents.

It is always good to clean out the old toys at least once a year and you can then take those toys that the children have out grown and either sell them at a yard sale or donate them to a charity.

One of the first things that you need to do when getting the toy room organized is to get at least 3 large boxes and label one for toys to keep, one for toys to throw away and the last one for toys to donate or sell. This will help you quickly sort through the toys with ease.

You can tackle one section at a time and organize as you go or you can go through the entire room then set it up as an organized playroom.

You can enlist the help of the kids as well as your husband but you may find that you and your husband will get through it all faster if you do not have the children there as they may have a hard time letting go of some of the toys even though they do not play with them any longer.

If you find that the kids have a great deal of toys that are still age appropriate but they just got lost in the mix you can organize them in a few bins that can be switched out every month to give the kids something new to play with.

This allows them to play with all the toys and leaves none to be forgotten. Once you have gone through the toys and you know what ones you are keeping and what ones are getting donated or sold you can start to make sense of the room.

Some great organizing tools for toy rooms are the racks that have removable plastic bins, usually 3 to a row with 2 or 3 rows. To help the kids keep everything in its place you can put a pictures of the toys that go in each bin right on the bin, such as: cars and trucks in one bin and Lego's in another.

You can use book shelves to organize such things as books and board games as well as movies and music CD's. The ideas are limitless.

Just use your imagination and be sure to make a home for everything. This will help keep the room from just getting all cluttered again. If you are on a tight budget then you any want to check out some yard sales or thrift stores for book cases and storage bins to help you get things in order.

You and the rest of the family will enjoy the toys much more if you can easily find them in your newly organized toy room.
